(14/4/16) – Palatine/Forum Romanum [Day 2]

Today we started the day back on the Palatine Hill. The highlight of the day was visiting the House of the Griffins (c.180 BC). The griffin motif depicted below is the earliest known example of large scale formal stucco decoration in Rome.

(nb. In my painting I have reconstructed the stucco panel)
