(12/4/16) – Campus Martius [Day 1]

The Pantheon, probably one of the most iconic buildings in Rome, is made up of two immediately recognisable parts,  the colonnaded porch and the circular drum. The dedication on the facade of this Pantheon is deceiving (M. AGRIPPA. L. F. COS. FECIT/Marcus Agrippa, son of Lucius, made this in his 3rd consulship). Indeed the Pantheon that stands today is the 3rd Pantheon built on this site, restored by Hadrian and re-dedicated to the original dedicant (the first Pantheon was build by Agrippa in 27-25 BC).
