(6/4/16) – Capitoline

The Capitoline Hill, Rome’s smallest and steepest hill with two main peaks, is again associated with Rome’s earliest origins. Legend would have it Romulus founded a Temple to Jupiter Feretrius here. Of similar uncertainty is the iconic Lupa Capitolina (depicted below) who stands in front of the often overlooked Fasti Capitolini, a list of consuls and triumphators recorded under Augustus.
